The Annular Solar Eclipse of 2012
Get ready eclipse fans! An annual solar eclipse is scheduled to make an appearance on May 20, 21, 2012. For those of you who are lucky enough to live in the northern hemisphere AND live in China, Japan or the West Coast of the United States, you will be witnesses to this celestial show!
Jupiter, Venus, the Moon and the Pleiades
I took this shot on March 26, 2012 at around 7:30pm. It was during the conjunction of Jupiter, Venus and the Crescent Moon. What was cool about this set-up was that I could also get the Pleiades in the same frame. This was taken with my Nikon D300. ISO-1600 f/5.6 for 5 seconds. From bottom to top: Jupiter, Venus, the Moon and the Pleiades.
2011 Perseid Meteor Shower: Viewing Not So Good!
The 2011 Perseid Meteor Shower is expected to peak during the early morning hours of August 12th and August 13th. Unfortunately, the full moon is going to be competing for your attention – making meteor viewing not so good!
